Do you live with or care for someone with dementia?

Your insights will help ensure the research is relevant, meaningful, and accessible to people with dementia, their families, and the wider community. 

Are you passionate about improving care for older adults and those affected by dementia? Researchers at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board are seeking one or two public contributors to help shape a research application exploring possible connections between depression, antidepressant use, and Alzheimer’s disease.

What experience do I need to help?
  • Personal or family experience with dementia, Alzheimer’s, or depression
  • Interest in older adult care, mental health, or dementia research
  • Experience reviewing documents or giving feedback on public-facing information

Previous involvement in research applications or public involvement activities, is desirable but not essential

What will I be asked to do?
  • Review research documents, such as the funding application and application and public-facing materials.
  • Share your thoughts on how clear, useful, and easy the documents are to understand.
  • Attend one online meeting for about an hour.
  • Help develop a plan for sharing the results with the public
  • Make sure the research reflects real-world concerns of older adults and people affected by dementia 
How long will I be needed for?
  • Reviewing documents:  one-two hours, before the meeting (in your own time).
  • Online meeting: One hour

 What support is offered?
  •  Cover reasonable travel expenses and additional carer or childcare costs,
  • Offer payment for time of £25.00 per hour (people can request less if they are in receipt of state benefits).
  • You will be supported by members of the research team who can brief you before the meeting to explain more about the project.
