Do you want to help improve prostate cancer treatment?

Help researchers at Cardiff University improve their knowledge, speed up diagnosis and explore treatment options for prostate cancer by sharing your views in a new focus group.

What experience do I need to help?

 You will need:

  • Personal experience with prostate cancer
  • an ability to participate in discussions and provide feedback on research proposals
  • understanding of prostate cancer biology and treatment options

More information

Members will join a new Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) focus group dedicated to prostate cancer research.

Participants will engage in discussions to inform project plans and contribute to shaping research directions, experimental designs and clinical applications aimed at improving patient outcomes.

This initiative is part of the Wales Cancer Research Centre’s efforts to improve prostate cancer research through diverse public perspectives.

What will I be asked to do?

You will help develop the funding application for the focus group by providing your insights and experiences related to the project plan.

If the project is successfully funded,  you may choose to join the focus group.  As a member of the group, you will review public documents of the research proposals and attend online meetings (2 times per year, each lasting 60-90 minutes) to discuss upcoming projects, provide feedback on findings and assist with project design and planning.

How long will I be needed for?

Three years, with the possibility of longer-term involvement if the project is funded.
