The Health and Care Research Wales Faculty helps researchers grow their careers. The Advancing Researcher Scheme is a personal grant that gives researchers the chance to set aside time to carry out research alongside their usual work.

You will provide invaluable feedback on applications and contribute to the selection process for the Advancing Researcher Scheme.

What experience do I need to help?

• experience of being involved in a funding panel and reviewing funding applications.
• ability to evaluate applications and provide constructive feedback.
• familiar with funding processes in the health or social care sectors.

What will I be asked to do?

• review funding applications and give your thoughts and feedback. This will help decide which research projects receive funding.
• participate in a one-day panel (face-to-face or virtual) meeting on 10 December 2025
• attend a one-hour pre-meeting to prepare for the panel meeting

How long will I be needed for?

• You will be asked to attend the main panel meeting, which will be held from 09:00 to 17:00 on 10 December.
• You will need to attend a one-hour pre-panel meeting.
• You will be required to review the applications prior to the meeting, and we anticipate that this will take approximately one day.

What support is offered?

• Cover reasonable travel expenses and additional carer or childcare costs,
• Offer payment for time of £150.00 (people can request less if they are in receipt of state benefits).
• The Faculty team will provide support and will designate a contact person to guide you through the process.
• Before the panel, you will meet with the Faculty team who will explain what’s expected and answer any questions you may have.
