Accessibility Statement

Health and Care Research Wales is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

This accessibility statement applies to www.healthandcareresearchwales.org

We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website.

You will be able to edit the viewing settings on your device or browser to make it easier to use the website.

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard. The exemptions are listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reason(s):

  • non-compliance with the accessibility regulations
     
    • The following issues have been resolved where possible, however, a limited number of pages may still be affected.
       
      • WCAG 4.2.1 Name, Role, Value: aria-hidden elements must not be focusable nor contain focusable elements.
         
      • WCAG 1.4.3 Contrast (minimum): Elements must have sufficient colour contrast: The green used as part of our brand colours does not provide a sufficient colour contrast when used as text on a grey background. The colour has been changed to a darker version to increase the contrast. There may still be some areas where the colour has not been changed.
         
      • WCAG 1.4.10 Reflow: 400% & mobile view: 
        • in mobile view headings may be partly cut off
        • at 400% zoom user may have to scroll horizontally to view the full page content
        • at 400% zoom links in side bar may be partly obscured
        • at 400% zoom + button next to text may partially overlay text
  • the content is not within the scope of the accessibility regulations
     
    • PDFs and other documents

      The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services

      Any new PDFs or Word documents we publish will meet accessibility standards.
       
    • Live video

      We do not plan to add captions to live video streams because live video is exempt from meeting the accessibility regulations.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was prepared on 7 October 2020. It was last reviewed on 23 January 2024.

This website was last tested in January 2024. The test was carried out by 
Hoffi following changes made to the website in response to a report received from website monitoring team with the Government Digital Service (October 2023). The test included automatic and manual review of the website.
