Dr Jacinta Abraham (Jaz) is a Clinical Oncologist with over 17 years’ experience in treating breast cancer. She set up the South Wales Secondary Breast Cancer Multidisciplinary Forum and Registry in March 2010, which is the first of its kind in the UK. Clinical research has been a focus throughout her career and as Breast Cancer Lead and PI, she has led Velindre to be a top recruiter of breast cancer studies.
Jaz was appointed as Executive Medical Director of Velindre University NHS Trust in January 2018 with direct responsibility for Velindre Cancer Centre and the Welsh Blood Service. In her current role she provides Medical Director Leadership on the Genomics Partnership Wales Programme Board and the All Wales Governance Board for Cell and Gene Therapies in Wales. She is also the Trust Executive Lead for Research, Development and Innovation with ambition to lead the organisation to a place of sustained research excellence.
