Opportunity: Help the Centre for Innovative Ageing with their research into loneliness in older people
If you are an older person (aged 65 and over) who receives support at home from paid care workers or from unpaid carers (family and friends) or if you are an unpaid carer, researchers at the Centre for Innovative Ageing would like your help.
The COVID-19 pandemic has brought the issue of loneliness and social isolation into sharp focus, with a million more people reporting being often or always lonely. Yet, even before the pandemic little research has explored this issue. Researchers in the Centre for Innovative Ageing at Swansea University want to develop research in this important area to explore how older people who receive care at home and carers can be better supported to prevent or alleviate loneliness and social isolation before they become chronic issues.
If you would be interested in helping develop research projects around this under-researched area, the research team would like to speak to you.
The research would aim to improve the ways in older people and carers can be supported to maintain and build social connections.
All you need is access to a telephone or video conferencing to take part. If you need support to use video conferencing, we can help with this.
You will need to be able to attend one group session on Monday 20 September.
