Professor Kieran Walshe, Director of Health and Care Research Wales said: “In recognition of the excellent research undertaken daily to improve the lives of patients and the public in Wales, Health and Care Research Wales is delighted to be an awards partner for the Health and Social Care Research Partnership Award with Industry at the MediWales Innovation Awards 2021.

“We encourage everyone involved in health and social care research to enter and look forward to receiving many outstanding applications.”

Previous winners of the Health and Social Care Research Award with Industry include the FAKTION study team for their work in breast cancer treatment, and the Oxford/AstraZeneca COVID-19 Vaccine trial team who took home the award in 2020.

Professor Sue Bale OBE, who was part of the winning team last year said: “The team were delighted to receive the Health and Social Care Research Partnership Award with Industry in 2020. Everyone in the team worked tirelessly on the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine study and it was amazing to see them recognised at the awards. From the offset, we’ve known that a vaccine is probably the only way out of this pandemic, so it was really exciting as well as challenging to run the first vaccine trial in Wales.

“I’d like to encourage everyone involved in research to apply for this award, shout about your life-changing work.”

To enter the Health and Social Care Research Partnership Award with Industry send your completed application form to Polly Carr. You can also contact Polly for information on how to apply for any of the other awards. The deadline for entries is 15 October 2021.
