Project title: A longitudinal investigation of new ‘Smart Speaker’ personal assistants to improve independence and wellbeing in social care settings
Biography
Dr Georgie Powell is a Research Fellow and Lecturer in the School of Psychology, Cardiff University. She received her BSc (hons) and PhD in Psychology at Cardiff University, for which she was awarded the Hadyn Ellis prize for best PhD thesis. Georgie’s research explores how new technologies in health and social care could improve wellbeing, independence, and digital inclusion.
In her Health and Care Research Wales Social Care Fellowship, Georgie is researching how smart technology could be used to support people with a learning disability and older adults living in social housing. Georgie is also researching how multi-sensory equipment can help to support sensory needs of autistic people in educational and residential settings.
