New ESRC/NIHR funding call to develop Network Plus on dementia

The Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) are offering a new funding call to develop a Network Plus on dementia, with the aim of funding up to three ‘network pluses’ across three thematic areas:

  • Inequalities affecting people living with dementia and their carers
  • Dementia prevention and early diagnosis
  • Dementia, economy and the workforce

A Network Plus brings together networks of researchers around a given challenge area. As well as traditional networking activity, they also have ‘plus funds’ – through which they develop and run their own small scale funding opportunities. This enables networks to grow further.

This funding will partly address the challenge of geographical concentration in dementia research funding through encouraging a wide range of research organisations being involved in bids and subsequent activity.
