Introduction to core Welsh health datasets in SAIL and the application process

This first session is aimed at individuals interested in applying for access to linked core health datasets within the Secure Anonymised Information Linkage (SAIL) Databank Trusted Research Environment (TRE).

Learning outcomes

At this session, which is part of the core health series, you will learn to

  • Understand the strengths and limitations in each of the core health datasets in the context of population data science research
  • Understand the SAIL Databank application process including the different stages involved and the type of support available, such as the scoping form and Independent Governance Review Panel (IGRP) process.
  • Apply best practices and strategies for preparing a successful IGRP application, including hints and tips from former internal reviewer.
  • Acquire practical insights into leveraging core health datasets for research purposes within a Trusted Research Environment.
