21 August

A Health and Care Research Wales Specialty Lead has been appointed to a new working group aimed at building stronger relationships and collaborations between Clinical Trials Units and the Chief Investigator community in the conduct of clinical trials.

Professor Ceri Battle, Joint Specialty Lead for Trauma and Emergency Care and recipient of a Health Research Fellowship from Health and Care Research Wales, joins nine other Chief Investigators on the UK Clinical Research Collaboration’s new Chief Investigator’s Network Group (CING), it was announced this week.

Bringing together CIs from a diverse range of specialties and professional backgrounds, CING will work together to identify challenges and their solutions, develop resources to support the CTU-CI collaboration, identify approaches used by other networks, and work with the CTU Network Executive Group and Director.  CING is chaired by the CTU Network’s clinical director, Prof Rustam Al-Shahi Salman.

Professor Battle said: “I’m delighted to have been appointed to CING and look forward to being able to share best practice from my role as a Chief Investigator.  By working collaboratively with a diverse range people, including medics and other healthcare professionals, we hope to address some of the challenges and practical issues in the conduct of non-commercial trials in the UK.”
