Location: Main base will be Tenovus Cancer Care Head Office, 1st Floor, Jones Court, Cardiff

Tenovus has a Board of Trustees which is legally responsible for Tenovus Cancer Care.

The Board of Trustees normally meets five times per year and the meetings are held late afternoon/early evening. There is an opportunity to attend some meetings remotely. In addition, there are committee meetings and occasional events which Trustees may opt to attend. The role is unremunerated, but travel expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with our policy.

Overall Purpose of the Trustee Board:

Trustees take ultimate responsibility for the work that Tenovus Cancer Care does, and the way in which it spends money given by donors, to achieve its aims. Trustees focus on the strategic direction of the organisation, agreeing plans and budgets, and holding the Chief Executive account for the delivery of the plans.

It has a legal dimension too, with Trustees legally responsible for ensuring that the organisation operates to standards set by the Government and the Charity Commission.

Specifically, the Board of Trustees is responsible for:

  • the overall governance and strategic direction of the charity its financial health
  • the probity of its activities
  • ensuring the organisation’s aims, objectives and goals are in accordance with its governing document, and legal and regulatory guidelines.

Role of Trustee Board member:

Key responsibilities

  • To ensure that Tenovus Cancer Care complies with its Memorandum and Articles of Association, charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation and regulation.
  • To ensure that Tenovus Cancer Care applies its resources exclusively in pursuance of its mems and arts.
  • To contribute actively to the Board giving firm strategic direction, agreeing aims with the Leadership Team and together evaluating performance.
  • To safeguard the good name of Tenovus Cancer Care.
  • To ensure the financial stability of Tenovus Cancer Care.
  • To use your knowledge, experience and any specific skills to help Tenovus Cancer Care reach sound decisions. This may involve scrutinising Board papers and leading discussions. Focusing on key issues and providing advice and guidance on new initiatives.
  • To attend at least 75% of meetings per annum.
  • To assist with fundraising by attending events, harnessing personal networks and by actively promoting and supporting Tenovus Cancer Care.

Training:

Tenovus Cancer Care will provide you with an opportunity to learn about all aspects of our services and activities. You may also be invited to take part in some of our internal training courses that will enable you to increase your skills.

What Tenovus Cancer Care is looking for:

They are specifically looking for people who are currently working in Wales as a senior healthcare professional in the cancer field.
