Dr Philip Connor
Specialty Lead for Children & Young People
Dr Connor is a paediatric haematologist at the Children’s Hospital for Wales in Cardiff. He first became interested in research while he was a trainee at Great Ormond Street and the Royal Marsden hospitals in London. His trial interests have included leukaemia, immune thrombocytopenia, thrombosis, sickle cell anaemia and infection.
As part of the team at NACHfW he helped set up the Children and Young Adults Research Unit – a clinical space in which children can participate in developing the future of health care. CARYU has helped children with a wide range of illnesses have access to life transforming care
As part of the children’s cancer unit he helped in NACHfW being part of the CRUK ECMC network, ensuring children in Wales have access to early phase trials to help combat cancer, the biggest killer of children in Wales
