999 EMS Research Forum 2021 conference

Research in prehospital care: Past, pandemic, present & future

This conference will be hosted virtually online and thanks to support from the Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust, and Health and Care Research Wales  it is free to attend. Register to be a part of what should be an exciting and unique undertaking of our annual research conference.

Call for abstracts is now open. Abstracts are invited for oral/elevator presentation or poster display on any aspect of research or quality improvement in pre-hospital emergency care. Deadline is Monday 11 January 2021 at 17:00hrs. Download the submission and guidance form.

Submissions will be peer reviewed, all successful abstracts will be published online in the Emergency Medicine Journal and prizes will be awarded for the following categories at the conference:

  • Highest quality research
  • Research most likely to affect practice
  • Most innovative use of routine data
  • Best poster

This conference is brought to you in association with The National Ambulance Research Steering Group (NARSG) and Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust (WAST).

Background: The 999 EMS Research Forum is a UK based partnership that brings together academics and health-care providers with a research interest in emergency care. It has been actively promoting emergency care research since its formation in 1997. Board members come from a range of specialities and backgrounds and include paramedics and academics. 

Aims of the Forum:

  • To encourage, promote and disseminate research and evidence-based policy and practice in 999 health-care
  • To develop links between emergency health-care practitioners and the research community
  • To run an annual research conference providing an opportunity to disseminate research and run workshops to build research capacity
  • To continue developing international collaborations in prehospital care research
