Project title: Starting a family when you have inflammatory arthritis: can a co-production approach to creating pre-conception health improve the sustainability of NHS services?

Biography

Zoë Abbott is a Health and Care Research Wales funded PhD candidate in the Division of Population Medicine in Cardiff University. She is using qualitative methodologies (especially the Realist approach) to investigate co-production as a tool to improve shared decision making in rheumatology, as women consider their choices to start or grow a family whilst often dependent on medications which could potentially interfere with safe pregnancy. Zoë has been working in various roles in health research since 2008 including trial management, data management and various data collection methods. She has worked across primary, secondary and third-sector sites, in both cancer and non-cancer studies, across three Welsh Health Boards and two NHS England Trusts. She is relishing this opportunity to lead her own research project through the Health PhD studentship.
