Event celebrates achievements of Welsh NHS research support and delivery
On Tuesday 21 March, Health and Care Research Wales’ Support and Delivery staff came together to celebrate research and strengthen relationships across Wales and beyond, attending their first face-to-face event since 2019.
Over 200 delegates gathered for the event, including NHS research delivery teams, Specialty Leads, Support and Delivery Centre and Welsh Government staff, to celebrate the vital role they play in making a difference in health and care research across Wales.
Under the theme of ‘developing research support and delivery for resilience and growth’, a range of speakers and poster presentations provided opportunities for attendees to share best practice, participate in workshops and gain valuable insights into research support and delivery innovation.
Dr Nicola Williams, Director of Support and Delivery at Health and Care Research Wales, chaired the event and opened the first session, discussing the outlook for Support and Delivery in 2023 and progress on the UK vision for Clinical Research Delivery.
Dr Williams said:
“Today is all about reconnecting with friends, colleagues and new faces to bring out the real sense of community within research support and delivery in Wales.
Following the restrictions of the pandemic, we are now able to celebrate the remarkable achievements and experiences of support and delivery staff in person and move forward with a renewed and inspiring sense of unity.
The overarching theme of today is developing research support and delivery for resilience and growth; this is an opportunity for reflection and bringing people together as a Wales wide team.
The action from today is to move forward with a strong sense of collaboration to inspire ourselves --and each other--to drive success within Welsh research support and delivery”.
Jayne Goodwin, Head of Research Delivery at Health and Care Research Wales shared her thoughts on the outcomes of our Support and Delivery Event 2023:
“It’s been an excellent opportunity for everybody to come together. It’s been long awaited. The benefits of meeting in person and having that narrative discussion around practice extend far beyond an event such as this by providing new networks and collaborations. The day has been really motivating and has provided an excellent showcase of Wales’s capability and achievements in research delivery which we are extremely proud of”.
