Have you heard about ATMP Engage?

A collaborative that focuses on matters important to patients relevant to advanced therapy medicinal products called ATMP Engage (the Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement Working Group) is trying to raise the awareness of ATMPs with the general public.

ATMPs, also known as cell and gene therapies, are cutting-edge therapies that can offer hope to patients with some complex diseases, genetic conditions and cancers. They are a new category of medicines that have the potential to transform lives and treatment approaches. Rather than treating symptoms or using a ‘one-size-fits-all’ treatment, these therapies are often personalised to treat a patient by targeting the cause of diseases at the molecular level or cell level.

ATMP Engage wants to raise awareness of advanced therapies so they are running a survey about these treatments. They are asking patients, parents, carers, patient advocates and the public about the kinds of information that would be helpful to them.

As more of these cell and gene therapies become available, they want to support the public to make informed decisions about how these treatments could affect them.
