How well do we remember our past experiences?

Researchers from Swansea University need your help with exploring how well we remember past events in our lives in response to different cues.

Participation criteria:

  • Be above 18 years of age
  • Be fluent in English
  • Have unimpaired or appropriately adjusted vision and hearing
  • Good physical health (you will sometimes have to press a keyboard button as quickly as possible)
  • No psychological conditions such as clinical depression and no clinical diagnosis of mild cognitive impairment or dementia

Their study consists of several tasks related to memory. First, you will be asked to perform a questionnaire about your general mood and then you will carry out several computerised tasks. In another task, you will be asked whether certain words could trigger memories or not. The full procedure will be explained by the experimenter before the study.

The experimentation should last approximately 50 minutes. It takes place on the Singleton Campus, in the Awen institute research rooms (Floor 2, Talbot Building, Swansea, SA2 8PP). To take part in this study you need to book a slot.

If you need more details, you can email Fabien Carreras or visit the Centre for Ageing and Dementia and Research's website.
