Our research dragon is roaring for #Red4Research

To celebrate #Red4Research 2024 we are recognising teams and people across Wales who make life-changing research happen.

Recognising the people behind the research

#Red4Research began in 2020 in the UK, as a way of saying thank you to all the dedicated staff who work together to carry out and support health and social care research. Research happens every day in Wales, across hospitals, dentists, opticians, therapy centres, care homes and beyond. It improves treatments, the equipment used, the way health and social care professionals work, saves money and time and it changes lives.

Amazing research takes a team and this is ours in Wales.

Research matters

In the last 12 months, over 19,600 people have taken part in research across 821 research studies, including:

A study aimed at detecting lung cancer earlier using a simple test

A study aimed at supporting new mothers with breastfeeding

Dr Nicola Williams, National Director of Support and Delivery said:

Health and social care research is more important than ever, and we are so proud  to recognise and celebrate the people behind the research, from research professionals to participants and everyone involved in research.

“Health and Care Research Wales is committed to developing the research professionals and staff of the future and supporting those already involved.”

We would like to say thank you to everyone who has helped with research and to all the teams and staff who sent in their fantastic photos for #Red4Research.
