Improving the design of informed consent processes for research involving people with additional communication and/or capacity needs
The OPTIMISE project, led by the Centre for Trials Research (CTR) which is supported by Health and Care Research Wales, is developing recommendations for researchers to help them to design more inclusive informed consent processes for trials.
The project lead, Dr Victoria Shepherd, a Health and Care Research Wales Faculty member, is exploring the ethical and methodological challenges surrounding research involving adults who lack capacity and the development and evaluation of interventions to support their inclusion.
Dr Shepherd and her team will be holding a workshop to discuss and agree the key domains to be included in the recommendations and they would like researchers and others with an interest in research involving people with additional communication and/or capacity needs to join them.
Contact Dr Victoria Shepherd from the Centre for Trials Research, Cardiff University for any questions.
