School interventions for promoting adolescent mental health: A case study from India with Professor Vikram Patel

Preventing mental health problems must target harmful social environments and promote nurturing environments across the early life course. The school environment is an important space to consider for fostering positive adolescent mental health. This lecture will describe how a whole-school intervention delivered by lay counsellors leads to large, incremental, and sustainable benefits on school climate, mental health, and bullying.

Professor Vikram Patel is the Paul Farmer Professor and Chair of the Department of Global Health and Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School. This lecture is hosted online by the Wolfson Centre and supported by the CU Global Health Network
