Social Care Research Roadshow

Health and Care Research Wales has joined forces with Social Care Wales to present two in-person research events to showcase the value of research for social care.

Our organisations have recently worked with the James Lind Alliance to ask practitioners and people who use social care and support to tell us about their most important issues and questions. The top 10 research priorities in care and support for older people was published in February 2021, with the priorities for children and families following in February 2023.

The full-day events, at Venue Cymru in Llandudno and City Hall in Cardiff, are free to attend and provide an opportunity for the social care community to learn, network and collaborate. Join your fellow practitioners and researchers as we showcase and discuss the latest research and highlight the value of research for practice, particularly focusing on identified research priorities.

The north Wales event was held on Tuesday 23 May at Venue Cymru, Llandudno and focussed on social care issues relevant to children and family support

At the south Wales event on Tuesday 13 June at Cardiff City Hall, the event will focus on care and support for older people. Sessions will include:

  • evaluating the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act
  • support for unpaid carers
  • taking care of the whole older person
  • social work with older people in context
  • technology in adult social care.

Please remember to cancel if you find yourself unable to attend so that we can offer your space to a social care colleague.
