Attend a surgery to get support on your funding application

19 August

The Health and Care Research Wales Faculty is committed to supporting health and social care researchers from a range of professional backgrounds and across all career stages who are planning to apply for any personal awards.

To support applicants in the process the Faculty will run general drop-in surgeries to deal with queries about all personal awards - whether you’re deciding whether you're eligible to apply, exploring which award might be the best fit or looking for clarity on eligibility and requirements. These will be monthly one-hour, online sessions with no need to pre-book on:

The Faculty’s Researcher Development Advisers will host the surgeries and will do their best to answer your questions there and then and if not, they will arrange to get back to you after the sessions.

Dr Claire O’Neill, Health and Care Research Wales Faculty Researcher Development Advisor, said:

“These sessions are an excellent opportunity to explore your options and better understand what’s involved in applying for a personal award.

“My background involves running a research design service in Wales for 10+ years as well as a researcher in clinical trials involving the NHS.  In these surgeries I can help you think through the planning of your award, identifying research questions and resource and training needs and  mentoring and support opportunities"

Dr Martin Elliott, Health and Care Research Wales Faculty Researcher Development Advisor, added:

“We understand the challenges researchers face and we’re here to help you navigate the process.

“As a social care researcher, I understand some of the specific challenges and opportunities in the field. If you’re working in or alongside social care, I’d be happy to answer some of your questions.”

The Advancing Researcher Scheme is now open and will have specific award surgeries, where you can ask any questions about the scheme.
