A big diolch from Health and Care Research Wales

16 December

“Where would we be without research? It’s a good time to stop and think about the amazing progress that has been made in dealing with the pandemic as we come to the end of yet another challenging year.

“And where would we be without the people that make research happen? That’s the researchers, clinical professionals, research support and delivery staff, and many others along with members of the public who have taken part in studies or those who have been involved in helping to shape the research questions.

“Whatever your role, we can all be proud of the difference our research efforts have made in 2021. Wales has continued to play a vital role in UK-wide and international studies to help tackle the COVID-19 pandemic – from vaccines through to treatments.

“Our funding of life-saving research has continued in other areas too, with key investments this year into projects researching topics from cancer and dementia through to social care.

“As we face 2022 together, let’s make the most of the opportunities we have to continue making an impact on people’s lives through the research we do every day.

“We look forward to working with you all once again in the new year but for now we would like to say a big diolch to each and every one of you.”
