Could you be a part of the battle against typhoid and paratyphoid fever?
6 August
Are you aged 18 to 55 years old and in good health?
Researchers at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, are looking for people to take part in the BiVISTA (Bivalent Vaccination against Salmonella Typhi and Paratyphi A) study, a study testing a new vaccine to help prevent typhoid and paratyphoid A fever.
Paratyphoid fever affects millions of people worldwide, particularly in areas with limited access to clean water and sanitation. This study could play a major role in making a difference to millions of people.
As a participant in the study, you will receive either the new vaccine or a control vaccine before being exposed to a carefully controlled, weakened strain of Salmonella Paratyphi A - the bacteria responsible for paratyphoid fever. Throughout the study, you will be closely monitored by an experienced team of clinical staff to ensure your safety and wellbeing. If you develop signs of infection, you will be promptly treated with antibiotics.
Your safety and wellbeing are the top priority throughout the study.
