Nominations open for prestigious Welsh research prize awards

Nominations are open for the Health and Care Research Wales Awards 2022, which will celebrate the achievements of the research community in Wales over the past 12 months.
Following the success of the inaugural prize awards in 2021, Health and Care Research Wales is pleased to confirm the return of the following three categories:

Impact Award

Rising Research Star Award

Public Involvement Award
Winners of the 2021 awards were celebrated for their life-changing work into decision-making around antibiotic use, reducing post-partum haemorrhage and making dementia services more accessible and inclusive.
Could we be celebrating your research in 2022?

Impact Award - can you demonstrate how your health or social care research is making a difference to people’s lives?

Rising Research Star Award - are you in the early stage of your health or social care research career? Are you making significant contributions to your field? Are you developing as an emerging leader of the future?

Public Involvement Award - have you involved members of the public in your health or social care research in a meaningful and innovative way? Can you measure up against the UK Standards for Public Involvement?
A panel of judges will decide the winner of each category and the results will be announced at the Health and Care Research Wales conference on 13 October at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff.
The winner of each category will be awarded funding of up to £250 to attend a training course, conference, workshop or similar event to develop an area of their research skillset.
Professor Kieran Walshe, Director of Health and Care Research Wales, said:
It’s been another busy 12 months for the research community in Wales and these awards are an important milestone in recognising how your research efforts are helping to change and save lives.
Where would we be without research? is the theme we’ll be exploring throughout the conference programme, and I hope award entries will reflect that thought-provoking question.
After hosting an entirely digital event for the last two years, I look forward to welcoming you back to Sophia Gardens and to sharing your achievements with you in person.”
