Most of his research involves analysis of linked health data and he works closely with the SAIL databank and uses data from Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD) and QResearch.

He works closely with UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) to get evidence about management of infections into guidance for clinicians. Haroon has held back-to-back Fellowships (Doctoral and Advanced) from the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR).
