Approvals Specialist - Health and Care Research Wales

Main duties of the job

Responsibility for the management of applications through the HRA/ Health and Care Research Wales Approval process.

Conduct HRA/ Health and Care Research Wales assessments as a key part of approvals for research in the NHS to ensure that the study as proposed meets the required standards. This will include the support of Research Ethics Committees and working with Approvals Officers to ensure each study receives an appropriate review, correctly documented.

The role will focus on ensuring that HRA/ Health and Care Research Wales assessments are undertaken to a high standard and providing consistently high-quality assurance reports to sponsors, researchers, and the NHS.

This post is a Health and Care Research Wales post, hosted by Powys THB. The post holder will be able to work from home and will also have a base in one of the Cardiff, Brecon or Bangor offices (confirmed on recruitment).

The Support and Delivery Centre’s role is to facilitate the implementation of Welsh Government policies by providing centralised support functions and services for the Health and Social Care Research Community in Wales. This includes implementing R&D funding policies, performance monitoring NHS R&D and managing the directory of research being undertaken across Wales. The Support & Delivery Centre also hosts the approvals and contracts services for Wales and facilitates initiatives to increase commercial, primary care and social care research. It also provides training and information services, as well as a communications service and supports public involvement and engagement in research in Wales.
