Young people still use sunbeds despite widespread knowledge that they increase skin cancer risk. The project team want to conduct an online survey to explore why young adults do or don’t use alternatives to sunbeds.
What will I be asked to do?
The project team would like to hear your ideas about the project, making sure that the information they use is easy to understand.
How long will I be needed for?
The public involvement panel will meet twice, before and after data collection.
What are some of the benefits for me?
You will:
- Help design research studies and gain valuable experience in public health research, advocacy, and community engagement
- Reduce the risk of sun damage and other health conditions linked with using sunbeds
- Advance Knowledge: Help researchers understand sunbed effects and create prevention strategies

- Connect with health professionals, researchers, and fellow volunteers passionate about making a difference.
- Empowerment: Take an active role in protecting young people’s health and promoting positive change, including educate the community about the dangers of sunbeds and the benefits of healthier options.
Our team will:
- Cover reasonable travel expenses and additional carer or childcare costs,
- Offer payment for time of £25.00 per hour (people can request less if they are in receipt of state benefits).
