Dr Andrew Fry

Director

Andrew Fry is Clinical Senior Lecturer in Medical Genetics at Cardiff University and Honorary Consultant Clinical Geneticist in the All Wales Medical Genomics Service. Andrew studied medicine at the University of Glasgow. During medical school he completed an intercalated degree in molecular biology. After graduating with distinction in 2000, Andrew trained in paediatrics in London and Maidstone. He then became a Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Training Fellow in Oxford. During his doctoral research he studied how common genetic variation contributes to severe malaria susceptibility. Andrew then trained in Clinical Genetics in Wales. His research in the last decade has focused on using new genomic testing technologies to investigate the genetic basis of early-onset brain disorders. Andrew was appointed as a Clinical Senior Lecturer in August 2017 and Director of the Wales Gene Park in April 2020.
