Biography
Dr Chloë George is a Consultant Clinical Scientist at the Welsh Blood Service (WBS) with over 20 years' experience of working in the field of transfusion medicine.
Chloë has a Doctorate in Clinical Science and is head of the Blood Component Development and Research group. Her research focuses on the development of novel and improved blood components to improve patient outcomes following transfusion. Chloë has a special research interest in the use of cold-stored platelets for transfusion during major haemorrhage, with the potential to enable their use in pre-hospital settings and by the military.
Chloë has recently (2025) received the Health and Care Research Wales Trial Development Award which she will use to develop a clinical trial for cold stored platelets in the pre-hospital environment under the support and mentorship of Dr Kym Carter in the Swansea Trials Unit.
