Have you had a coil fitted in the last five years?

Help researchers develop an online tool to improve the experience of having a coil (intra-uterine device) fitted.

The intrauterine device (IUD) (sometimes referred to as the coil) is a safe and cost-effective method of contraception, which is also used in the management of heavy periods and menopause symptoms.

However, women report uncertainty about what to expect and can experience pain and distress during the fitting.

Research also suggests that clinicians frequently underestimate women's pain and there is a lack of research examining how decisions are made about pain control during IUD fitting from the perspectives of both women and clinicians.

This study aims to improve the process by developing an online tool for shared decision making about pain relief between women and clinicians.
