Help to build a healthier, greener future for primary care
Cardiff University researchers are exploring how primary care buildings (like GP surgeries and community clinics) can cut carbon emissions while staying patient friendly.
Climate change is already affecting our health. The NHS and Welsh Government have committed to cutting carbon emissions, and one way to do this is by making Primary care buildings (like GP surgeries, dental practices, and community clinics) more environmentally friendly.
Researchers at Cardiff University are planning a study to explore what kinds of changes are acceptable to patients, the public and staff. The researchers are looking for four members of the public to join their public involvement panel.
- What experience do I need to help?
- No special qualifications or research experience are needed
- The researchers are looking for people who are willing to share their views and ideas
- An interest in making healthcare buildings and services more sustainable is helpful
Your everyday experiences as a patient, carer, or community member are valuable and will help shape the study
- What will I be asked to do?
- Help to check that the survey questions are clear and meaningful
- Make sure the research reflects what matters to patients and communities
- Share your views in online meetings (every four to eight weeks, flexible timings)
Contribute to shaping research that could make NHS care greener and more sustainable
- How long will I be needed for?
- If this project is funded, it will run for about one year.
- During the first few months, there will be monthly online meetings, with a little preparation time to read through documents sent in advance.
- For the rest of the year, meetings will take place roughly every couple of months to give updates and gather your views.
- All meetings will be held online using Teams, with timings arranged to suit panel members.
- In total, you would be asked to give your time for around eight to ten meetings spread across a year, with flexibility built in.
- What are some of the benefits for me?
- A chance to have your voice heard and influence how NHS buildings in Wales become greener
