Would you like to help develop cancer care education?
Use your experience of living with cancer to help shape patient-centred care education for healthcare professionals.
Velindre University NHS Trust would like to speak with people living with cancer who can help use their experiences to inform cancer care education. It is hoped that by people sharing their stories of living with cancer will foster more compassionate care from doctors, nurses and other health care staff.
- What experience do I need to help?
- Living with cancer – or have previously? (that may not be relevant)
- A carer or family member of someone living with cancer
- Live within 30 miles of Velindre University NHS Trust
- What will I be asked to do?
- You will be asked to attend a focus group to hear from the project lead who will ask the group some questions which will facilitate discussions in the group, and you will be asked to consider the questions and provide feedback.
- How long will I be needed for?
- You will be needed for half an hour prior to the meeting to review the questions and one hour’s workshop attendance.
- What are some of the benefits for me?
- You will be part of helping improve education for healthcare professionals.
- Help healthcare professionals understand day to day realities of living with cancer and make care more compassionate.
- What support is offered?
- You will be supported by a named contact person in the project, who can brief you about what is needed from you.
- Cover reasonable travel expenses
- Offer payment for time of £25.00 per hour (people can request less if they are in receipt of state benefits).
