Help reduce infections in hospitals.
Help researchers set up a study to test an antimicrobial coating and air purification system in hospital wards to enhance patient safety.
Hospital infections can really impact patients by worsening their existing health issues and lengthening their hospital stay
Early tests in Morriston hospital suggests that a special coating which is applied to every part of a ward combined with air purifying units which help get rid of bacteria in the air and possibly reduced the number of infections in that ward over a ten-month period.
Researchers now need a clinical trial to properly test the approach to make sure it works and is safe to be used, aiming to reduce the number of infections reported, discharged patients on time and without the complication of an infection.
