Join a national study to help shape how healthcare evidence research is reported.

Bangor University is inviting public contributors to help shape a new international guideline aimed at improving how qualitative health research is reported.

Bangor University would like to include the voices of people who use health and care services to make sure the reporting guideline is clear, relevant and person-centred.  This is an exciting opportunity to influence how patient voices and lived experiences are represented in health and care evidence. You’ll take part in online workshops and complete some short questionnaires.  You can read further information via this link What is Evidence Synthesis?

What experience do I need to help?

We’re looking for up to 23 people who:

  • Have some experience of patient and public involvement (PPI) in research - particularly evidence synthesis, if possible
  • Are interested in improving healthcare using qualitative research
  • Have access to a computer or tablet with internet, microphone and speakers
What will I be asked to do?
  • Take part in two online workshops
  • Complete three online questionnaires
  • Share your views on what makes good reporting of qualitative research
  • Contribute to discussions on the development of the new reporting guideline
  • Review and provide feedback on study materials and draft recommendations
How long will I be needed for?
  • Attend two online workshops (likely in October 2025 and early 2026), each lasting two - three hours.
  • Complete three online questionnaires, each taking around 30–40 minutes, spaced four weeks apart over a 12-week period. These form part of a Delphi study - a method used to build consensus on what should be included in the guidelines.
What are some of the benefits for me?
  • An opportunity to learn about research methods, including qualitative evidence synthesis and the Delphi process.
  • Have a real influence on the development of an international guideline used by researchers worldwide
  • Gain insight into how qualitative research contributes to better health and care services
  • Access training and support to help you take part confidently and comfortably
  • Connect with other members of the public and researchers who share an interest in improving health research
  • Help ensure public voices shape the way research is reported and used to inform policies and services
 What support is offered?

Bangor University will:

  • Payment for your time in line with NIHR recommended rates
  • Training and support to help you take part
  • Cover reasonable travel expenses and additional carer or childcare costs,
  • Offer payment for time of £25.00 per hour (people can request less if they are in receipt of state benefits).
