Biography

Working at the interface between criminology and social care, Dr Helen Hodges particular interest is in social justice and different forms of inequality faced by children and young people.  Coming from an inter-disciplinary background, she has developed a particular interest in how the data collected by different organisations can be used to inform the evidence base around complex societal issues. Helen's research therefore tends to utilise administrative data to provide a robust evidence base to inform policy and practice. In seeking ways in which to focus on issues which affect on small numbers within the general population, her preference is to conduct analysis under a Bayesian framework. She feels this enables her to apply a fresh lens, unrestricted by the limitations associated with traditional statistical techniques.
