Dr Danielle Huckle

Specialty Lead for Anaesthesia, Peri-operative Medicine and Pain Management

Having completed her medical training in London, along with an iBSc in cognitive neuroscience, Danielle worked in London and Australia before moving back to her home city of Cardiff. All of her specialist anaesthesia training has been in Wales and she became a consultant anaesthetist in 2018 and an Honorary Senior Lecturer for Cardiff University in 2020. Part of her role as a consultant is lead for R&D for the Peri-operative Care Directorate of Cardiff & Vale UHB.

Dr Huckle’s PhD studies were concerned with the detection of endotoxin in patients with sepsis using a detection method called molecular imprinting, working in laboratories of Cardiff University’s School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Science, School of Chemistry and School of Engineering. She has diverse research interests, all looking at the use of disruptive and established technologies to improve patient care on their surgical journey. Furthermore, she has a clinical interest in emergency and trauma anaesthesia and is keen to expand our contribution to high quality trial work in these areas.
