Deputy Specialty Lead for Stroke

Dr Krishnan was appointed as a Consultant Stroke Physician in Swansea Bay Health board in 2014. In 2016, she became the clinical lead for Swansea stroke services, undertaking improvements in transient ischaemic attack pathways resulting in nomination for the British Medical Journal clinical leadership award category in 2018.

Dr Krishnan has a key interest in research, taking the role of primary investigator for a number of national and international studies and chief investigator for a qualitative research project on end of life care in acute severe stroke. Her main area of research interest is anticoagulation in acute stroke. She was appointed the Deputy Specialty Lead for Stroke in 2016 and working with the lead, they were able to improve research participation in all stroke units across Wales. She was reappointed to this role in 2019. Dr Krishnan is also the secretary for the Welsh Association of Stroke Physicians.

Dr Krishnan has a passion for service improvements and undertook the clinical leadership programme with Academi Wales, which helped her to earn the postgraduate certificate in clinical leadership. Dr Krishnan has taken the role of Clinical Director for Medicine at Morriston Hospital, thereby continuing her commitment towards improving care provided to her local population.
