Professor Aled Rees
Specialty Lead for Metabolic and Endocrine Disorder
Aled Rees is a Reader and Consultant Endocrinologist at the School of Medicine, Cardiff University. His clinical practice embraces all aspects of endocrinology with a particular focus on neuroendocrinology. Professor Rees graduated from the University of Wales College of Medicine with Honours. He was awarded a Wellcome Trust Clinical Training Fellowship and a Society for Endocrinology Clinical Endocrinology Trust Fellowship for his PhD examining growth regulation in pituitary tumours. He is Chair of the Welsh Endocrine and Diabetes Society, Senior Editor for Clinical Endocrinology and a member of the Society for Endocrinology Council.
His current research seeks to understand the impact of the hormonal environment in early life on cognition on neurodevelopment, with a particular focus on Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and thyroid disease.
