Online talk: doctor and patient to discuss COVID-19 trial

You're are invited to a talk from the National Institute for Health Research about research into COVID-19 treatments featuring a doctor and a patient who were involved in the study. Katherine Millbank and Dr Raha West will discuss their experience with the University of Oxford’s RECOVERY trial.

Katherine spent two weeks in intensive care with COVID-19 at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, Buckinghamshire in March and April 2020. During her stay, Dr West recruited her into the study. Katherine took a drug that was part of the trial into possible treatments for the virus.

The study found the drug improved survival for hospitalised COVID-19 patients, the first discovery of its kind, which is being used throughout the NHS and worldwide to save lives.

There will be the opportunity to ask questions and learn about how you can take part in COVID-19 research, even if you’re healthy.
