Course title: MSc Clinical Trials and MSc Health Research Methods
Biography
Nicki Palmer is a Registered Nurse with an extensive clinical background in Critical Care. Since 2008 she has been helping to drive the quality and outcomes of care in various research nurse roles. She has worked with multiple specialties including Critical Care, Colorectal surgery and, since 2018, has been facilitating research into Hepatitis C with Public Health Wales. In this challenging, yet rewarding role, she works directly with under-served communities, in particular people engaged in substance misuse, who experience homelessness and find themselves marginalised in society.
Nicki’s role allows her to demonstrate her passion for extending research opportunities to patients, and with it, the benefits that participation can bring. By working with people who ordinarily would have few opportunities to engage, Nicki helps to educate and empower people whilst driving wider public health goals.
Nicki is undertaking an MSc in Clinical Trials with the University of Edinburgh and has been awarded a Health and Care Research Wales Research Training Award in 2023.
