Biography

Dr Simon Read is a social scientist based in Swansea University's School of Health and Social Care. His research interests are varied and include cultural influences on personal attitudes and behaviours, as well as how these relate to issues of ageing and the health and social care settings. Recent projects and publications have focused on the introduction of new clinical pathways for the treatment of glaucoma, adherence to medication for those with dementia, social services, well-being and prevention, notions of a 'good' and 'bad' death, and the dignified care of older people in acute hospital wards and care homes. His Health and Care Research Wales Social Care Research Fellowship is exploring preventative social care for older people receiving domiciliary care, and those living with dementia.
