Gain experience in the mechanics and logistics of research delivery

End of project summary

Main Messages

When I was granted the research time award, I was in the writing up stages of my PhD, the topic of which was Paramedic Supplied ‘Take Home’ Naloxone. The Research for Patient and Public Benefit (RfPPB) Wales (RfPPB) funded study Prehospital Recognition and Antibiotics for Sepsis (PhRASe), for which I was Chief Investigator had also just completed data collection.

Prior to securing the award, my intention had been to take advantage of the dedicated time, to build on my existing research knowledge and experience, rather than focus on a specific topic. From a personal perspective, the value of having dedicated research time, as opposed to opportunistic periods vulnerable to distractions, cannot be underestimated.
