Shape research into better care for urgent dental problems

Help improve how urgent dental problems are treated.

Cardiff University is planning a new study to find better ways to manage toothache when treatments like root canals or extractions aren’t available. If you’ve had urgent dental care in the last two years, your experience can help make sure the research is right for patients.

What will I be asked to do?
  • Read a two-page document before the meeting
  • Have a one-to-one chat with the researcher over the telephone or Microsoft Teams
  • Share your thoughts and experiences about getting urgent dental care.
  • Give feedback to help improve the research plans.
How long will I be needed for?

Approximately one hour in total:

  • 30 minutes to read a short document.
  • 30 minutes for a one-to-one conversation with the researcher.
What are some of the benefits for me?
  • You’ll help improve how urgent dental problems are treated.
  • Your views will help make the research more relevant and patient friendly.
  • You’ll learn more about how health research works.
  • You might be invited to stay involved in the project if it gets funding.
 What support is offered?
  • Cover reasonable travel expenses and additional carer or childcare costs,
  • Offer payment for time of £25.00 per hour (people can request less if they are in receipt of state benefits).

Have a look at our guidelines for more information about this.
