Short Breaks - Learning from Lockdown
Improving the availability, choice and quality of short breaks is vitally important if we are to effectively support carers to look after their own health and have a life of their own alongside their caring responsibilities. COVID-19 has necessitated a rapid transformation of the ways we support carers and individuals with complex care needs to take a short break, including breaks delivered via on-line resources and breaks taken in the outdoors.
The purpose of this event is to:
- Share knowledge and experience about the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on short breaks and respite care
- Highlight examples of creative approaches to breaks provision that have developed during the pandemic
- Capture what matters, going forward, to reflect the needs and preferences of those using short breaks
- Explore lessons for future policy and practice development
