Biography
Eirini Skiadaresi, MD MSc PGCert MedEd FEBO, undertook her medical and surgical training at the University of Trieste in Italy, graduating with honours (110/110 magna cum laude) followed by a residency in ophthalmology and ophthalmic surgery (50/50 cum laude). She has extensive training including fellowships at Moorfields Eye hospital and Bristol Eye Hospital. Her research interests include medical retina, uveitis, cataract surgery, patient reported outcomes and she has published several articles in high-impact factor peer reviewed journals including the Lancet.
She is undertaking research projects with international collaborations in the USA, Greece and China. She sits on the editorial board of an ophthalmology journal and reviews for 11 journals including the BMJ and Eye. Miss Skiadaresi has a strong interest in teaching, regularly contributing to undergraduate medical student education and teaching other health professionals including nurses and optometrists both in direct teaching sessions and published educational articles and book chapters. She is a strong believer in multidisciplinary team working, empowering other health professionals and encouraging professional development and collaboration.
She also holds a Masters degree from Swansea University in Health Care Management and her aspiration is to improve quality of care and standards in ophthalmology in west Wales for the benefit of patients, implementing research and innovation into NHS clinical practice.
