Health and Care Research Wales Faculty award:
Award: Health Research Fellowship Scheme (2018 - 2023)
Project title: Understanding experience, completion and outcomes of colorectal cancer screening among participants with multi-morbidity
Biography
Dr Stephanie Smits is a Behavioural Scientist with expertise in both quantitative and qualitative research methods. She started her Health Research Fellowship in October 2018 and it allows her to apply her behavioural science expertise to explore the impact that screening participant multi-morbidity (presence of two or more long-term conditions) has on bowel screening in terms of screening experience, completion and outcomes.
The project will apply mixed methods to identify strategies and interventions to address the influence that multi-morbidity has at a screening participant, healthcare professional and service level. Stephanie has previously worked on projects in different areas of cancer research, including cancer awareness and early detection, with behaviour change and inequalities a common thread in her research.
