Biography
Nell is an early career researcher at CASCADE, the Children’s Social Care Research and Development Centre at Cardiff University. She started a Health and Care Research Wales-funded post-doctoral social care fellowship in October 2023, looking at factors associated with children returning home from care.
Nell’s PhD focused on home visiting support provided to families with young children by Home-Start UK, and changes in emotional wellbeing among parents receiving support. She has been working as a Research Associate at CASCADE since May 2018, initially contributing to a wide range of projects being carried out for What Works for Children’s Social Care. She then led a Health and Care Research Wales funded project using linked administrative data to look at the relationship between parental risk factors and children entering care.
Nell’s research interests include children’s social care, the looked after system, parental wellbeing and family support, and using administrative data.
