Beach balls travel across Wales showcasing the people behind the research
21 June
To celebrate #Red4Research 2023, our ‘Where would we be without research?’ beach balls have travelled the length and breadth of Wales visiting dedicated research teams who are working hard to develop new treatments and care.
Supporting everyone in research
Research doesn’t just happen; people make it happen. #Red4Research day was created in 2020 as a way of saying thank you to all those participating, supporting and undertaking research.
This year, red ‘Where would we be without research?’ beachballs have visited research teams across health boards and research centres to recognise vital health and social care research is happening right across Wales.
The day has been supported by people in Africa, America, Australia, Chile, China, India, Italy, Malaysia, and Spain as well as the UK, where it started.
Research matters
Research covering a range of health and social care conditions, including cancer, dementia and diabetes, takes place right across Wales, providing essential evidence for the Welsh Government, the NHS and social care organisations to make decisions about our health and wellbeing.
Professor Kieran Walshe, Director of Health and Care Research Wales said: “Over the past few years, the crucial role of research professionals, participants and everyone else involved in research, in keeping people healthy and well, has become more visible. It’s fantastic to celebrate those people as part of Red4Research.
“We are committed to supporting and encouraging those who make research possible through our new three-year plan, with the Health and Care Research Wales Faculty as a core pillar for national research career pathways and the continued integration of meaningful public involvement and participation with equality, diversity and inclusion in mind.”
